These championships take place for the second time and for the first time are hosted in Austria. The premiere was in Hagen (GER) in 2016.

Three medal chances
Overall there are three chances for a medal, in the individual, in the team and in the freestyle competition. In 2016 the team title as well as both individual gold medals went to Germany. With the single bronze medalist Juan Matute Guimon (ESP/ No. 5 in the world ranking) with Don Diego Ymas and team gold medalist Juliette Piotrowski (GER) with Sir Diamond two other medal winners from 2016 – beside Austria’s Diana Porsche with Di Sandro – will compete in Lamprechtshausen.

A total of 28 U25 riders from nine nations will fight for the European Championship medals in Lamprechtshausen. The fact that eight dressage riders, who rank under the top ten of the FEI world ranking have registered for the event guarantees exciting equestrian sport. Hot candidates for the team gold medal this year are the silver medal winners of 2016 from the Netherlands. Team Oranje consists of the current number one in the world, Anne Meulendijks and her team colleagues Maxime van der Vlist, Denise Nekeman and Janine Nieuwenhus, who are on 3, 6 and 8 in the FEI ranking.

Austria, the host country will be represented by  FEI ranking no.2 Diana Porsche, Karoline Valenta, Franziska Fries  and Timna Zach.

Around the European Championships there will be international dressage competitions on a 3-star level as well as competitions for youth, juniors, young riders and ponies.
