World Cup seventh leg in Neumünster

The VR Classics from 16th – 19th February is the place to be for top riders and horses this weekend.

VR Classics Neumünster.

The Neumünster Holstenhallen are transformed for four days into the equestrian sports mecca of the North Germany, attracting guests from across the country and from much further afield, becoming practically the “living room” of equestrian sports.

Neumünster is the seventh of nine stations for the FEI World Cup Dressage, and one of the most popular and coveted at that. The VR Classics stretch from the main hall, the Holstenhalle 1, out through the entire arena. In Halls 4+5 and in the foyer there is a sales exhibition covering some 6,000 square meters, offering everything the heart could possibly desire. Hall 5 holds one of two warm-up areas and the big video screen with live streaming of all the action in Hall 1.

The line-up for dressage aces is impressive. Last year’s winner of the World Cup Freestyle and team Olympic champion Isabell Werth will come up against team World Champion Helen Langehanenberg in Neumünster. Numbers 3, 4 and 5 in the current World Cup rankings will also be present: Judy Reynolds (Ireland), Kristy Oatley (Australia) and Marcela Krinke-Susmelj (Switzerland). Finland’s Emma Kanerva is on the hunt for World Cup points too, as is Hamburg rider Juliane Brunkhorst, who is currently in 16th place and knows and loves the special atmosphere in the Holstenhallen.

The “race” for victory in the World Cup Dressage competition will begin on Saturday morning at 08.00 prompt. All the candidates in the FEI World Cup Dressage will take part in the Grand Prix in the Madeleine Winter-Schulze Prize, as this test is the qualification competition for the World Cup Freestyle on Sunday – the VR Bank Neumünster Prize.
