U.S. Dressage Athletes Prepare for Final European Observation Event at CHIO Rotterdam

The competition is the last of three designated observation events as part of the selection process for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Dressage Team.

All members of the Dressage Squad for European Observation Events will compete this week at CDIO5*/CDI3* Rotterdam in The Netherlands. Led by Chef d’Equipe Robert Dover, The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team for the CDIO5* will include Shelly Francis, Laura Graves, Kasey Perry-Glass, and Steffen Peters. Allison Brock, Francis, Arlene “Tuny” Page, and Peters will compete in the CDI3*.

All nine American combinations had excellent warm-ups today and we are excited to get underway with the Nations Cup tomorrow, and the CDI3* Grand Prix on Friday,” said Robert Dover. “Naturally, we are hopeful for a top result in the Nations Cup, but since this is our final Observation Event for the Olympic Games, we are equally optimistic for our athletes in the CDI3*. It is wonderful to have such a wonderful group of riders, all of whom are great friends and truly cheering each other on!

The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team

rotterdam-graphicThe U.S. has drawn second in the order of seven teams and will compete in the Thursday’s Grand Prix in the following order:

  • Shelly Francis (Loxahatchee, Fla.) with Patricia Stempel’s Doktor, a 2003 Oldenburg gelding
  • Kasey Perry-Glass (Orangevale, Calif.) with Diane Perry’s Goerklintgaards Dublet, a 2003 Danish Warmblood gelding
  • Steffen Peters (San Diego, Calif.) with Four Winds Farm’s Legolas 92, a 2002 Westphalian gelding
  • Laura Graves (Geneva, Fla.) and her own Verdades, a 2002 KWPN gelding

CDIO5* competition will conclude on Saturday with the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle. Graves and Perry-Glass will contest the Special, while Francis and Peters will represent the U.S. in the Freestyle.

CDI3*

The Horse Inspection for the CDI3* will take place on Thursday. Competition will begin with the Grand Prix on Friday and continue on Saturday with the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle.

The following athlete-and-horse combinations will represent the U.S.:

  • Allison Brock (Loxahatchee, Fla.) with Claudine and Fritz Kundrun’s Rosevelt, a 2002 Hanoverian stallion
  • Shelly Francis (Loxahatchee, Fla.) with Patricia Stempel’s Danilo, a 2004 Hanoverian gelding
  • Arlene “Tuny” Page (Wellington, Fla.) and her own Woodstock, a 2003 KWPN gelding
  • Steffen Peters (San Diego, Calif.) with Four Winds Farm’s Rosamunde, a 2007 Rheinlander mare
  • Guenter Seidel (Cardiff, Calif.) with James and Charlotte Mashburn’s Zero Gravity, a 2004 Dutch Warmblood gelding
